The National Pan-Hellenic Council at UCLA serves as the council for the historically African-American, historically significant fraternities and sororities. There are nine membered organizations internationally, four of which are currently represented here at UCLA.
The NPHC is responsible for collectively organizing community programs and activities, within its membered organizations, to better service UCLA and the greater community, as reads the mission statement: "Unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities, and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations."
Organized by the principles that govern its membered organization, the National Pan-Hellenic Council was the first Greek council of any kind here at UCLA and its quality remains today as a hallmark for progress.
